Alumnus Ken Roseboro has recently published a book oriented toward consumers who are increasingly facing a choice of whether to eat genetically engineered foods or to choose organic food instead.

Genetically Altered Foods and Your Health is a concise consumer's guide that contrasts genetic engineering of food -- a potentially dangerous technology trend driven by multi-national corporations -- and organic food production -- a grassroots movement driven by consumer demand for healthy food.

The book highlights the threat that genetic engineering poses to organic food through genetic contamination and offers steps consumers can take to preserve the integrity of their food.

Mr. Roseboro's book was used as a textbook last block in David Fisher's course on the Sustainable Global Environment.

'This book is the best summary of the principal issues concerning GE foods that I've seen,' Dr. Fisher said. 'It is very well written, with the pertinent information laid out in a style that is easy for nonspecialists to understand. I recommend it for anyone who wants to be well-informed on the subject.'

Genetically Altered Foods and Your Health is part of a series of Basic Earth Guides published by Basic Health Publications.

Mr. Roseboro, a 1992 graduate of the M.A. in Professional Writing, is editor and publisher of The Non-GMO Source, a monthly newsletter that helps food producers respond to the challenges of GE foods. In its fourth year of publication, The Non-GMO Source has a worldwide circulation.

Mr. Roseboro also edits and publishes The Non-GMO Sourcebook, an annual directory of suppliers of non-GMO and organic seed, grains, ingredients, and food products. . . .
