Raja John Konhaus, a world expert in Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture, discussed that programme and its application, the Maharishi poverty removal programme. Both programmes are designed to create peace and affluence by aligning the creative intelligence of man with the creative, 'culturing intelligence of Nature'.

In Vedic agriculture, purity is an essential part of the full range of planting, harvesting, and preparing the food. Raja Konhaus informs us that 'in Vedic culture, purity extends from the seed to the dinner table.' The practice of Vedic agriculture consists of three main components. First, culture the awareness of the farmer to be in tune with Natural Law through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation and advanced TM-Sidhi programme. Next, enliven Natural Law in the food through Vedic recitations. Finally, ensure that the food is maintained fresh and fully ripened.

The application of Vedic principles not only nourishes the health of the consumer, but also addresses the economic situation of the farmer. Although agriculture is the most widespread of all the professions, it is often synonymous with poverty, accounting for less than four per cent of the GDP of any nation. For the farmer, the key to mastering and managing his agriculture operation is found in the Upanishads, as Raja Konhaus quoted: 'To know that, to master that, by knowing which everything else is known—master that by mastering which everything else is mastered.' If the farmer masters Nature from its unified source, Nature automatically supports him.

As Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Global Country of World Peace stated recently, 'If he needs rain and Natural Law is fully enlivened in the country, that individual farmer will get rain.'

Although based in organic agriculture, Vedic agriculture takes food to a new level of purity and vitality through Maharishi's Vedic technologies. The practice of Vedic agriculture is based upon the fundamental mechanics of how the Veda unfolds itself, described by Dr John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist and Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, as the process of unification and divergence from the field of unity.

Raja Konhaus described the stages of life of the plant in terms of these mechanics, and noted that Vedic recitations influence the life of the plant at these critical stages, so that it has the ability to incorporate the total range of Natural Law within itself. He also described the cyclical relationship through which the purity of food affects the quality of the physiology and collective consciousness, which in turn affects the quality of the environment.
