Vedic Organic Agriculture and the bald eagle

Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, addressing a recent Press Conference on Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture, said that on 28 June 2007, 'the bald eagle was removed from the ''endangered and threatened species'' list in the United States.' The bald eagle, the Prime Minister explained, 'is the national bird of the US, and appears on its great seal, yet just a few decades ago, it had almost ceased to exist in the US because of, primarily, the pesticide DDT.

'The effect of DDT was to make the eggs of the bald eagle so thin, that when an adult bird sat on the eggs, the eggs simply broke . . .'

Dr Morris reminded the media, that DDT has been around in the world now for about 60 years, but if we look back at that time—knowing what we know now about DDT—the advertisements, and such practices as almost caused the extinction of the US national bird, seem entirely laughable.

'But I would say to everyone today,' said Dr Morris, 'that all pesticides; all herbicides; and all harmful chemical fertilizers in use in agriculture in the world, particularly in industrialized agriculture—in a very short time from now, will look just as laughable. 'Now is the time to stop all that, and start with Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture.'

Dr Morris explained that it is no longer appropriate or even necessary to treat agriculture as a form of warfare, battling the elements, fighting pests and disease.

'Agriculture should agree with the culturing intelligence of nature,' said Dr Morris. 'This is the basic principle: when you live like that, you are no longer violating the laws of nature. Being in harmony with the laws of nature, the laws of nature will begin to support you. So instead of disasters being treated with violent poison-ridden methods, there is effortless production of nourishing crops'—minus poison, plus consciousness.

'There are 6.5 billion people in our world. It is time for the world to eat well, to eat delicious, vital, healthful, nourishing, and enlightening food that promotes a higher quality of mind.

'Maharishi Mahesh Yogi often says about food—Jaisa khave ann, vaisa bane mann—''the quality of the mind is dependent on the quality of the food.'' With this improvement in the quality of food, the quality of mind of the entire world is going to improve out of sight.

'This is the kind of agriculture,' Dr Morris concluded, 'that encourages the ailing bald eagle to soar again in the American sky.'
