15 August 2007
Dr Branko Cicic, National Leader of the Global Country of World Peace in Serbia, reported on 13 August that his and his colleagues' sustained activities to develop the market for organic food in their country are now coming to fruition.
Speaking on the Maharishi Channel, Dr Cicic explained that, after a certification process that has lasted almost 10 months, the first product of the Serbian Organic Foundation—organic apple vinegar—has been certified for both the international and domestic markets. The label design, which includes certification logos, has been completed, and from 20 August the product will be on the market.
The Serbian Organic Foundation was established by Dr Cicic and his colleagues to provide healthy organic food to the population, and thus contribute to enlightenment and well-being in the nation. At the same time, it will help to sustain financially the activities of the Global Country of World Peace in its larger goal to raise Serbia to the state of invincibility.
Serbia has currently just 0.3% of its arable land under organic cultivation, compared to the average of 4% in the European Union. The Serbian Organic Foundation has established good relations with several domestic producers of fresh organic vegetables and has obtained an allocation of produce. This will start to be sold in the markets of Belgrade from 17 August and will be the first organic food in the city's central green market.
Dr Cicic reported: 'We prepared a nice decoration for our stand, and today we made four sets of elegant, colourful clothes for the sellers at our stand. The Public Green Market Company, administered by the City Government of Belgrade, warmly welcomed our initiative to promote organic food and gave us, last week, the first stand in the most important green market in the town.'
At least one more stall will follow immediately in another market, and from the spring, the Foundation will offer fresh organic vegetable produce in at least five main green markets in Belgrade. Indeed, it has plans to convert one whole green market in the wealthiest area of Belgrade to 100% organic. Agreements have been made with farmers, in order to meet the production levels that this would require, next year.
Raising public awareness of Maharishi Vedic Organic food
Dr Cicic has agreed with the best-selling health magazine in Serbia, Herbs and Health, to give several pages in each issue to articles on organic food. A 'School of Organic Gardening' in the magazine will also be instructive for all those interested in growing their own healthy food.
The Editor-in-Chief for this section will be a famous biologist and the author of many books on gardening, whose beautiful 'Paradise Garden' has more than 1,000 different vegetables and plants. Dr Cicic is meeting with him, prior to the commencement of the article in the next issue of the magazine.
In addition, the Foundation has agreed with the main city television network, Art TV, to start a weekly half-hour show on organic food called 'Organic Serbia', commencing in September. The Foundation has bought its own video equipment, and will produce the largest part of the show itself.
A web site on organic food has also been newly created, and will serve to unite the whole organic movement in Serbia.
From organic food to invincible Serbia
Thinking of the country as a whole, the Serbian Organic Foundation has produced its Position Paper on organic production in Serbia for the National Government. This is being submitted to the Prime Minister as well as to prominent individuals engaged in the promotion of organic agriculture.
'Whatever the response from Government,' Dr Cicic says, 'we know our final goal and we know that we shall achieve it very soon—growing throughout the nation 100% pure Maharishi Vedic Organic food to sustain the enlightenment of the citizens and the invincibility of Serbia.'
The fruition of the activity of the Serbian Organic Foundation coincides with the purchase, by the Global Country of World Peace in Serbia, of land suitable for a Tower of Invincibility together with two Invincibility Schools of 200 students each, 400 being the required number to create invincibility for Serbia.
