Global Country of World Peace leaders have recently drawn up preliminary plans for the implementation of Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture on a plot of land near Rome. This land will ultimately provide the site for a Vastu community built according to Vedic Architecture526mdash;which will include a Maharishi University and invincibility group of Yogic Flyers.

Dr Peter Swan, Minister of Communication for the Global Country of World Peace and expert in Maharishi Vedic Agriculture, reported* on his recent visit with Raja Mariano Facipieri, Raja of Invincible Italy, during which they discussed in detail the possibilities for a sustainable agriculture project on the 62-hectare land near Rome.

Dr Swan emphasized that in addition to aspects such as buildings, roads, trees, and gardens for the Vastu community, the most crucial element to be considered for the project is the usage of water. Indeed, according to Vedic texts: 'Water is deemed life itself of living beings and the crops,' he said.

Features to incorporate water include water harvesting, storage and distribution; irrigation; a greywater system; and sewerage. Other fundamental considerations for the land include solar and wind energy, a nursery for plants and crops, composting, and a greenhouse. 'All of these aspects fit together to create sustainability, and the key to most of them is water,' explained Dr Swan. 'Therefore, creating a plan for water usage is the first step in creating a farm or garden city.'

The best source of water for agricultural usage is from rainfall on site, continued Dr Swan, and the best place to store this water is in the soil. Rainwater will be channeled to multiple dams via sealed surfaces (such as roofs and roads), rivers and streams, and greywater, and from the dams will then be directed into the soil by way of 'keyline furrows', or distribution channels. The dams and keyline furrows will distribute water in such a way as to create a haven for crops, trees, and wildlife.

Finally, he reported that after assessment, the soil and seasonal cycles of rainfall on the Rome property were found to be ideal for agriculture. It was calculated that a total of 23 out of the 62 hectares could be irrigated from dams.

'Establishing Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture is the first phase of development for this land near Rome, which will ultimately be home to a Consciousness-Based Education institution and a coherence-creating group of 1,000 Yogic Flyers to create invincibility for Italy,' summed up Dr Swan.
