On 14 January 2015 Peru This Week reported: After rising concerns to protect Peru from genetically modified organisms, the ministry confirms its stance. The Ministry of the Environment announced that it will continue to protect Peru's biodiversity and hold its strong stance on the moratorium on transgenic seeds. Minister of the Environment, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal affirmed that the prohibition initiated in November 2011 is still in place. 'The moratorium stands firm: it will remain in force. The Agriculture Ministry has also expressed its support to the moratorium and the law passed in November 2011,' Pulgar-Vidal stated.
