Cagayan organic farmers get certificates

On 16 March 2019 The Manila Times reported: The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Cagayan Valley (Region 2) has awarded certificates to organic practitioners after they complied with the standards set by the Organic Certification Center of the Philippines (OCCP). OCCP said its primary purpose is to serve as a certification and inspection body for food and food products, and agricultural inputs such as fertilizer, pesticide, feeds, among others. Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of environment, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.

[Narciso Edillo, DA Cagayan Valley executive director] said the Cagayan Valley region alone has 27,040 hectares of agricultural farms that are dedicated to organic farming, representing 63 percent of the 2022 target to comply with Republic Act 10068, or the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010.'
