His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has said that India cannot make itself invincible by borrowing the concept of defence from the West. He said the sole aim of the developed countries is to cast one country against the other so that they can sell their weapons. Maharishi described this concept a 'fraud', and said that India should rely on its ancient knowledge, the Veda, to achieve invincibility instead of wasting resources and energy on weapons.

He said that the country could not be protected through missiles. 'If you have one missile, others have ten. They can not save you.'

He said that only Vedic Technologies can make a country invincible. Yagyas and the Anushthas, along with other Vedic routines, have tremendous potency to avert any conflicts and negative tendencies. He said that the government of the nation must adopt these technologies to make the security mechanism infallible without resorting to war. The present system of defence is based on fear. And those who resort to fear cannot achieve invincibility.

He also encouraged the people of India to change the present leadership of the country, which is bent upon inviting foreigners to settle the disputes with the neighbouring country. They, in the name of bringing peace to the region, are only playing their old game of divide-and-rule.

He said that it is a strange paradox that India, which has the responsibility to protect the whole world, is looking to others to protect itself. For this, he put the blame squarely on the political leadership of the country since independence. 'Every regime in the country has invited foreigners to bring things in order, but they are only getting worse.' He also warned the people that if this trend continues for some more time, the day is not far off when India will become a slave again.

Maharishi, the founder of the worldwide Transcendental Meditation (TM) Movement said that the genesis of most of the ills plaguing the country lies in the country's constitution, which is guided by the spirit of the British. This is a constitution that dissuades the people from following the path of Dharma, or the right actions according to the Veda.

In response to a question, Maharishi said that one can comprehend the Bhagavad Gita only by establishing oneself in the consciousness of Arjuna. Only he can have the glimpse of unity consciousness. He, however, said that the Bhagavad Gita is being told and retold every moment in everyone's physiology.

In answer to another question regarding whether the positive news in the media can have a positive impact on human physiology, Maharishi said that every word has an impact. It reflects the consciousness of a person which definitely affects the physiology. 'Everything affects everything,' he summarized.
