Sweeter days ahead for honey producers
by Shelly-Ann Thompson
Jamaica Gleaner Translate This Article
5 January 2007
On 5 January 2007 Jamaica Gleaner reported:
The government of Jamaica stated it invested $11.5 million in 2006, to improve production in the honey industry. The investment seems to have paid off, as honey production in the country has grown from 3.2 gallons to 7.5 gallons per hive.
Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of government, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.
Mr Roger Clarke, Jamaica's Land and Agriculture Minister made the report, adding that in the past year, the Agriculture Support Services Project (ASSP) trained forty unemployed young people in beekeeping skills, so that the industry may be further developed.
Currently, Jamaica has 900 bee farmers, manning bee colonies worth more than $282 million. Winfield Murray, president of the All-Island Bee Farmers' Association, says that his organisation has pledged to increase that number by 50 per cent in the next three years, and expand its focus to honey by-products, such as bee pollen, to be exported abroad.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
