Dr Hagelin explains the mathematical expression of the structure and dynamics of the Unified Field.

In Part IV of his talk, Dr Hagelin explained that the Laws of Nature sequentially unfold from the Constitution of the Universe in a rigorous, mathematically precise way, so that the whole universe reflects the fundamental structure or architecture of the Unified Field. 'By understanding the symmetry, the structure of Unity, we will understand the symmetry and structure of diversity.'

In this part of his talk, Dr Hagelin said that looking again at the Constitution of the Universe described by the mathematics of Quantum Field Theory, there is a compact, mathematical expression of the structure and dynamics of Unity. This Unity is in terms of eight unified components; in the language of modern physics these are the eight bosonic degrees of freedom of the Super String, the eight internal vibrational degrees of freedom of the Super String.

This structure of eight, and all possible combinations and relationships of those eight, is a very precisely described mathematical symmetry group called E8, the exceptional group—all possible relationships among the fundamental eight. The full symmetry of the Unified Field is a 'doubling' of E8 in terms of both eight bosonic and fermionic degrees of freedom of the Unified Field.

'The fermionic degree of freedom is similar to the bosonic, but it is unmanifest, which means the vibrational excursion, the amplitude of the reverberation of the super string or Unified Field fermionically is always infinitesimal, too small to see.' It has zero magnitude.

Dr Hagelin said that the Unified Field has the ability to reverberate within itself bosonically; these are actual audible vibrations from the standpoint of physics, and the fermionic are inaudible, which we can consider to be the gaps between the audible syllables.

Dr Hagelin then said that at this point he would like introduce something extraordinary. From Maharishi's Vedic Science, the very same architecture of the Constitution of the Universe has been revealed with absolute clarity.

Maharishi's Vedic Science is a modern scientific revival of ancient Vedic Science, the science of the Unified Field, which is the science of consciousness, because the qualities of the Unified Field unambiguously establish the Unified Field as a field of consciousness.

Vedic Science is the science of Unity, the science of consciousness, the science of the Unified Field. The word Veda means pertaining to knowledge but not scattered, fragmented, isolated knowledge, but Total Knowledge, wholeness of knowledge.

'Vedic Science gives the knowledge of Unity,' said Dr Hagelin, 'and not just the knowledge of Unity, but the mechanics of self-interaction by which Unity gives rise to surface diversity. This is the extraordinary nature of the Veda and Vedic Literature, which Maharishi has made extremely clear in this scientific age.'
