The 'Go Green Plan' being implemented for the city of Fairfield, Iowa, USA, will make use of a valuable and abundant local resource—the knowledge and training of graduates of undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in Sustainability at Maharishi University of Management (MUM), said Mayor Ed Malloy.
Mayor Malloy continued his discussion of the city's new initiative to reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of life for Fairfield residents.
Please see a previous article, 'Mayor of Fairfield, Iowa, USA implements 'Go Green Plan'.
Among factors the Mayor believes will contribute to the programme's success are the many great students graduating from MUM with Bachelor of Science degrees in Sustainable Living, or MBAs in Sustainable Business. 'These top-notch graduates will help develop and implement renewable energy systems throughout the town, as well as redesign older buildings to enable more efficient energy use.'
Mayor Malloy also noted that the economy of Fairfield is historically based on agriculture, so that even though industrial, non-organic farming takes place today, farmers still value the local, organic traditions of their ancestors. 'I think that the town is rooted in the types of values we hope to reintroduce and reenergize with the Go Green Plan,' he commented.
To take the plan to the next level, Mayor Malloy hopes to appoint a diverse group of Fairfield citizens who will come together once a month to brainstorm how to move forward with the plan. These discussions will be moderated by a professional strategic planning organization.
'Having lived in Fairfield for the last three decades, it has been a joy to experience the rise in coherence through group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes, and how this has brought about positive change in the city, the state, the nation, and the world.' With the Go Green Plan, Mayor Malloy aims to further these good effects.
