Latvia: the eurozone member-elect whose growth is the envy of them all

On 11 June 2013 The Guardian reported: In five years Latvia has been from boom to bust and, relatively speaking, back to boom. The third poorest country in the EU, it is also the fastest growing, notching up 5 per cent growth last year without social unrest. The European commission and the European Central Bank (ECB), in their 'convergence reports' last week, gave a green light to Latvia to join in January. EU finance ministers are expected to rubberstamp that decision next month. Ratings agency Standard Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of government, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.
