Uruguay prison turns inmates into entrepreneurs

On 12 June 2019 The Associated Press reported: Uruguay's Punta de Rieles prison has been transformed into an unusual experiment. Inmates form businesses, work for one another, and offer products both to the world within the walls and to that without. Punta de Rieles is an exception not only in Uruguay but in Latin America where penitentiary systems are synonymous with inhumane treatment, inhospitable conditions, and very high recidivism rates.
