by Daniel Costello

16 May 2005
On 16 May 2005 South Coast Today reported:
The Transcendental Meditation Programme (TM) 'might actually help you live longer'. The South Coast Today article, originally published in the LA Times, cited research that showed that 'participants who used Transcendental Meditation twice a day for 20 minutes had a 23 per cent lower death rate from all causes and nearly a third lower death rate from heart disease than those who did not practise the form of meditation'.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The article gave details of the study which was recently published in the American Journal of Cardiology. Researchers from five universities and medical centres followed the death statistics of 202 patients with high blood pressure who had learned various means of lowering their blood pressure. Those who had learned the TM technique were found to live longer.
The article quoted Dr Robert Schneider, leading researcher on the study and director of the Center of Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. 'This paints a strong picture of how it (Transcendental Meditation) can restore the body and promote better health in the long-term,' he said.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
