On 15 September 2005 GhanaWeb, Ghana reported: Those living in cities are being exposed to dangerous levels of toxicity from vehicular emission. Writer Fauziyah Sai said that carbon monoxide, gas fumes, lead, and other types of environmental pollution are reaching serious levels and have raised governmental concern. Global Good News service views this news as the failure of modern health systems. Such 'flops' highlight the need for more intelligent, evolutionary, Natural Law based, life-supporting systems.

Sai noted that carbon monoxide emitted by diesel cars at low concentrations causes fatigue in healthy people and chest pain in people with heart disease. In higher concentrations, it impairs vision, causes headaches, and dizziness.

Research has proved that diesel exhaust contains thousands of gaseous substances that impact negatively on the skin. In addition, gaseous particles can penetrate into the deep regions of the lungs, where, if retained, can possibly affect certain biological activities in humans.

Chronic exposure to benzene (a component of gasoline fuel) leads to the decreased production of all types of blood cells and untimely leukaemia, a cancerous proliferation of white blood cells.

A recent study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed high levels of lead in the blood of residents of Accra as a result of increased vehicular emissions. The agency said it was taking measures to curb environmental pollution caused by fumes from vehicles, including plans to use computer devices to check the pollution levels of vehicles.

Some officials are calling for laws to be passed to curb environmental pollution. They warn that in addition to harming the health of the population, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide can cause climate changes and affect rainfall.

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
