In the Global Press Conference on 4 April, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, outlined the possibilities for investment in prevention-oriented, side-effect free medicine and medical education.

Everyone is aware that the current medical system that dominates in the world and the medical education that is at the basis of it and authorized by the governments of every country, has been identified in an article in the Journal of the America Medical Association as the cause of some 200,000 deaths a year, making it the fourth highest cause of mortality, Dr Morris reported.

This is a shocking fact that reflects on what Maharishi calls the 'high heap of hazards' of modern medicine, which is rising higher every day. There are over 20,000 review articles of the scientific proven hazards of modern medicine, Dr Morris said.

'Something different has to be done. Chronic disease is afflicting 100 million Americans in spite of the country spending more money on health care than any other country by far.'

Something fundamentally new has to be done, and the idea is to establish a new medical education system that on the one side can train a new generation of doctors who are experts in natural, prevention-oriented and side-effect free medicine, effective for the relief of chronic diseases.

At the same time, Dr Morris said, the idea is to invite existing medical doctors and students in the medical institutions to come and through short courses, gain expertise in this field of medicine that can completely enrich the whole medical system and make it able to systematically prevent people from falling sick.

'This medicine will help them without poisoning them with side-effects,' Dr Morris said.
