by Global Good News staff writer

26 April 2008
Speaking recently on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Robert Schneider*, National Director of Health for Invincible America, reported developing interest in Maharishi Ayur-Veda at Indian hospitals and medical universities.
In Part I of this article, Dr Schneider reported progress in launching a study on Maharishi's Vedic approach to reversal of ageing. In addition to this project, Dr Schneider helped with plans to incorporate Maharishi Ayur-Veda programmes into a new Indian hospital, still being built. 'The developer of this hospital had met Maharishi and learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique in the 1960s,' commented Dr Schneider. 'When he heard we were traveling through India, he was eager to meet with us about possibilities for his hospital.'
In particular, the hospital seeks help from Dr Schneider and his associates in developing holistic medicine programmes at their new centre for academic research, clinical studies, and education. 'We suggested they perform the largest study ever done on mind-body medicine and heart disease,' reported Dr Schneider. 'Just as major clinical research is done on cholesterol-lowering drugs, this hospital can now do the same with Ayur-Vedic medicine.'
Dr Schneider, who recently authored a book titled Total Heart Health: How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease with the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health, added that research on Ayur-Veda and heart disease has been underway for 30 years. 'This hospital wants to go beyond the research, of which there is plenty, to establish a clinical centre where integrative Ayur-Vedic medicine can be offered to patients. . . .
'In the meantime, we know that demand for Maharishi's knowledge is definitely there in India,' Dr Schneider said. 'Maharishi Vedic Medicine is being recognized in the land of its origin in ways I've never seen before.'
Global Good News will feature the continuation of this article in the coming days.
* Dr Schneider is also Director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management, USA.
