The Global Country of World Peace has designed a full range of programmes in its new overall system of health care, integrating traditional and modern approaches.

Dr Rainer Picha, Minister of Health, recently explained that there are three levels of Maharishi Health centres, which will offer Maharishi's health care programmes.

The first level is the Maharishi Spa, where more simple treatments are given that do not require a medical doctor; people come for rejuvenation and strengthening of the physiology, prevention of disease, and promotion of longevity, rather than for chronic diseases. All the Vedic health care programmes are offered including various types of massage, Vedaroma and Maharishi Gem and Light Therapy, and physical strengthening programme, daily routine and diet, etc.

The second level is the Maharishi Ayur Veda Health Centre, where the same treatments are available, plus the full Pancha Karma programme, a comprehensive purification and rejuvenation programme, in which a doctor and Vaidya (Maharishi Ayur-Veda physician) are involved, to prescribe the full treatment and address specific diseases.

Dr Picha explained that the whole programme has been developed under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace. Maharishi's main focus and emphasis over the last few years was the Maharishi Health Centre, which is a fully fledged centre of Maharishi Integrative Medicine, offering the approaches of modern medicine in addition to all the programmes in the first two centres. Maharishi Integrative Medicine represents the integration of modern and traditional medicine, including a full spectrum of technologies of diagnosis and treatment, and consulting with experts in the various fields.

For example, if someone needed surgery, treatments would focus on proper preparation to strengthen the immune system and self-healing mechanisms. Following surgery, emphasis would be on strengthening and helping the body to recover more quickly. There will always be the possibility of integrating the two streams of traditional and modern medicine for optimum results.

In all three centres there is the possibility of in-residence treatment. Maharishi Sthapatya Veda is an important aspect of Maharishi Ayur-Veda; all three types of centres will be built according to the principles of Vedic architecture in accord with Natural Law
