Parents and healthcare professionals are searching for better ways to support good health in children. Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care provides a natural, holistic solution, says Austrian medical doctor Wolfgang Schachinger. A new book, Super Healthy Kids: A Parent's Guide to Maharishi Ayurveda, offers detailed information about how to utilize Maharishi Ayur-Veda for children's health.
Modern lifestyles—including stressful daily routines and lack of nourishing food—are creating many health problems for children, explained Dr Schachinger.* Concerned parents and health care professionals in the western world are starting to help make changes to benefit children's health.
At some schools, these changes include offering students organic school lunches and better health education.
Dr Schachinger, who is also an expert in Maharishi Ayur-Veda, said he sees an increasing number of children in his practice.
He hopes that interest in a more natural, holistic approach to health, particularly interest in Maharishi Ayur-Veda, will continue to grow.
'We just celebrated, two or three months ago, the 25-year anniversary of Maharishi Ayur-Veda in Austria,' he said, and the grand event was attended by nearly 80 doctors. In terms of complementary medicine, 'Maharishi Ayur-Veda is on the forefront of scientific research,' he said.
He also commented that now 'the government is recognizing that you cannot finance a health care system when the children are already sick . . . so something has to be done'.
A new book on Maharishi Ayur-Veda and children, Super Healthy Kids, will help parents and others interested in children's health, he said.
Written by Kumuda Reddy, MD, and Linda Egenes, the book presents 'the time-tested wisdom of Maharishi Ayur-Veda [which] offers surprisingly effective solutions to children's health problems today, from ADHD to obesity', giving parents knowledge and many practical approaches to 'keep your children healthy without negative side effects', the book states.
* Dr Schachinger's report was featured on the 30 July 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
