Dominica: Transcendental Meditation proposed to prevent and treat chronic diseases

The National Director of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Dominica recently attended a national meeting on non-communicable diseases. At the conference she presented Transcendental Meditation as a potential solution for preventing and treating chronic, non-communicable diseases. After the meeting, the National Director met with a leading health official who is a long-time Transcendental Meditation practitioner. The official encouraged the development of plans to introduce the technique among the homeless and at-risk youth in Dominica.

In other health news from the Caribbean island nation, the Maharishi Spa in Dominica has recently been registered with the Caribbean Spa Association. A course is currently underway to train six more technicians in Maharishi Ayur-Veda natural health care to work at the spa. Another Maharishi Ayur-Veda course is being planned, to be offered to the public.
