India: Experts address symposium at new Maharishi Ayurveda health centre in Gurgaon

A symposium held on 4 September, celebrating the inauguration of a new Maharishi Ayurveda Health Care Centre in Gurgaon, India, continued with several other eminent experts giving presentations on the theme, 'The Role of Ayurveda and Panchkarma* (rejuvenation therapy) in Stress-Free Life'. Gurgaon is in the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region).

Maharishi Ayurveda runs a number of HealthCare Centres in Delhi NCR, including the new one in Gurgaon. Please see Part I of this article.

The Panchkarma expert at the world-renowned Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital in Delhi, Dr. Jagbandhu Nath, elaborated on various therapies of Panchkarma. He said that these therapies can help in eradicating even incurable diseases.

Addressing the symposium, Dr. Abha Saxena, senior research officer at Maharishi Ayurveda R&D department, said that Panchkarma cures many heart related disorders. In this regard, she mentioned research conducted in Ohio State University, Maharishi University of Management, and Germany's Albert-Ludwigs University, which reveal that Panchkarma is quite helpful in warding off mental disorders.

Dr. Paramjit Singh Chauhan of Maharishi Ayurveda said that Ayurveda has established its efficacy on modern scientific parameters the world over. He also made special mention of Maharishi Amrit Kalash, a prime product of Maharishi Ayurveda which is known as a highly effective antioxidant around the world.   

Also speaking on the occasion were the head of the newly-opened Maharishi Heath Care Centre and its CEO, Dr. Devi Sirohi, former professor in Punjab University. The medical officer of the centre, Dr. Avnika, presided over the workshop.

The centre also conducted a week-long free health checkup camp on the occasion.
