Maharishi Ayurveda India - News Translate This Article
6 February 2012
As part of its efforts to spread awareness and offer a remedy for diabetes—the disease which is wreaking havoc with the growing population of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR)—Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital in New Delhi, India, held a week-long free health check-up camp on its premises from 6 to 11 February. Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital is the only Ayurvedic hospital in North India to be accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH).
Announcing the camp on 6 February, the general manager of Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital, Mr Apurva Shrivastava, said that the camp would offer free sugar tests and free consultancy by the doctors. BPL (below poverty line) card holders would also be given free Ayurveda medicines.
The camp concluded on 12 February with a seminar offering Maharishi Ayurveda's perspective on a cure for diabetes. World renowned Ayurveda experts, yoga, meditation teachers, scientists, and researchers offered their views to the visitors and participants.
He said that in Delhi and the NCR, diabetes has assumed epidemic proportions, afflicting around 33% of the population. Out of this 62% of the people are in the category where the condition is beyond control, making this disease fatal. He feels that only Ayurveda can offer a permanent cure for such people.
Mr Shrivastava said that Maharishi Ayurveda Hospital has all the Ayurveda facilities and treatments for diabetics, including Panchkarma (rejuvenation therapy) and Transcendental Meditation.
