A longtime teacher of Transcendental Meditation in the Balkans, Branko Cicic is deeply committed to improving the quality of life in the region through the development of consciousness, as well as healthy food and natural health care. In recent years Mr Cicic has been working to bring the benefits of organic agriculture and Maharishi Ayurveda health care to his home country of Serbia. An area of recent focus is to make Maharishi Ayurveda health products available to the public.

One avenue of promotion is the third annual Bio Balkan Expo, a fair devoted to a healthy and organic lifestyle. The fair was started by Mr Cicic three years ago and has since become the largest of its kind in southeast Europe.

This year there were 67 exhibitors, with some from India, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria, and Holland, and many from Serbia.

In addition, Mr Cicic once again had a exhibit on Maharishi Ayurveda. He explained that they are in process of registering their first Maharishi Ayurveda products.

'At the same time,' he said, 'we are in the process of organizing the international congress on Ayurveda in Belgrade next May. . . . We have confirmation, as of now, of more than 20 Vaidyas and doctors who will participate as speakers or as special guests at the congress.' (Vaidyas are expert Maharishi Ayurveda physicians from India.)

Mr Cicic added that the Ayurveda congress is going to be accredited by the Minister of Health of Serbia.

'Three hundred medical doctors from Serbia are expected to participate for their continuing medical education,' Mr Cicic said. 'We expect a great response from many of them, and we hope many will go deeper into Maharishi Ayurveda and will create a number of medical doctors practising Ayurveda here' with approval from the authorities.
