Two former British Army soldiers whose lives were completely turned around after they learned Transcendental Meditation related their story to a spellbound audience at a recent conference at Shoreditch House in London. The conference was convened to mark World Mental Health Day. It illustrated the power of Transcendental Meditation to transform lives, and reaffirmed Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's vision in bringing Transcendental Meditation to the world to eliminate suffering for all mankind and create an ideal quality of life on earth, said Dr Peter Warburton, Chairman of Maharishi Foundation UK.

Prior to the conference at Shoreditch House, Dr Norman Rosenthal met with the two former soldiers, Leighton Stagg and Steve Bindon, for the first time. In a most sympathetic manner, he encouraged them to tell him their stories.

They spoke candidly of their experiences, perhaps as never before, feeling comfortable to do so in his presence. He then encouraged them to join him on the platform and tell their stories to everyone. He suggested that to enable the audience to grasp the significance of their experiences they include details of the problems they had encountered, as well as the solution.

When they joined Dr Rosenthal shortly after the start of the conference and began to narrate their experiences, the whole audience was deeply moved. Everyone soon grasped the full extent of the difficulties faced by veterans, and the potential of Transcendental Meditation to resolve these issues in the most simple and direct manner. Dr Rosenthal supported their explanations by relating similar cases he had encountered, and the vast range of scientific research showing the value of Transcendental Meditation.

The subject of bringing relief to the large number of British veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder dominated the conference. Leighton and Steve said that the experience of speaking out at the conference made them realise that now is the time to launch the David Lynch Foundation's Warrior Wellness programme in the UK, and they were ready to put any amount of time into this.

Global Good News will continue to feature Dr Warburton's account of a new initiative, the David Lynch Foundation's Operation Warrrior Wellness programme, which was soon to be launched in the UK.
