Interest in Transcendental Meditation has increased dramatically in Canada, say Transcendental Meditation teachers in the country. This has also led to more demand for advanced meditation techniques among people already practising Transcendental Meditation, as well as more knowledge and technologies for development of consciousness, health, and other areas of Vedic wisdom brought to the world by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

In Canada as a whole, the number of people learning Transcendental Meditation has increased by 100 per cent in the last 18 months. In Toronto, that number tripled in the last year alone.

To meet this rising demand, two Vedic experts from India, teachers of advanced Transcendental Meditation practices, are now travelling regularly across Canada.

In the past year they toured in Montreal, Sherbrooke, Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Qualicum Beach, Salt Spring Island, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton. They will soon be joined by a Vaidya, expert physician in Maharishi Ayur-Veda natural health care.

Since more people are learning Transcendental Meditation, local teachers and meditators appreciate that these Vedic and Ayurvedic experts are visiting Canada's major cities every two to three months.

Another expert recently toured the country. Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, gave talks in cities on the west coast of Canada, inspiring and informing Transcendental Meditation practitioners of the latest news and developments of Maharishi's programmes in many countries. Dr Morris is an international authority in the application of these programmes and technologies of consciousness, including Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education, in all areas of society.

Dr Morris 'really enlivened in our awareness all the things that are happening in different places in the world,' commented Dr John Cowhig, a teacher of Transcendental Meditation for many years. 'He talked about progress in different countries, showing beautiful slides. Different countries in Africa, in the Balkans, throughout India, different countries in South America, all the achievements of the David Lynch Foundation. . . . He took us to Korea; he took us to different places in China. . . . He took us to universities in China, where Maharishi University of Management has all these beautiful reciprocal arrangements of students and teachers going back and forth.' The whole tour left everyone very happy and inspired, he said.
