On 20 June 2014 Times of Malta reported: ''Transcendental Meditation exercises the part of the brain that allows you to calm down. Studies have shown that people who practise Transcendental Meditation have a 50 per cent reduction of heart attack, stroke or death over a five-year period. That is amazing,'' American neurologist Dr Russ Hornstein told Times of Malta. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of health.

Dr Hornstein lives and works in Malta, and has been practising Transcendental Meditation for 20 years.

In the article writer Sarah Carabott notes the research Dr Hornstein was referring to, which was published in the American Heart Association journalĀ Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. ''Meanwhile,'' she writes, ''this form of meditation has also been proven to lower anger and stress, and eventually blood pressure.''

Ole Osiier Markmann, a [Danish] lawyer who has been coming to Malta to hold Transcendental Meditation courses in the past year, said that Native Americans—who like the Maltese suffered from diabetes—had lowered diabetes levels after turning to Transcendental Meditation.

''People drink, smoke, overeat or take stimulants as on some level they are not completely satisfied,'' the article quotes Dr Markmann as saying. But when they practise Transcendental Meditation, he said, they experience ''transcendental consciousness—the core of their own personality—making them feel much more familiar with themselves and the environment. We have seen the use of stimulants decreasing considerably when people start meditating.''
