On 20 September 2018 Poughkeepsie Journal reported: Goats are getting popular. So it's hardly a surprise that green goats are catching on. There's a whole herd of them living in Rhinebeck, New York ... who graze for a living. The happy herd of about 180 goats belongs to Larry and Ann Cihanek of Rhinebeck, whose Green Goats are the eco-friendly way to get rid of weeds and invasives without herbicides. The business, Invasive Species Management, started simply enough in 2003 when Mr Cihanek got a call to put his seven dairy goats to work clearing poison ivy and thorns at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. An old Civil War fort needed repair, and brush had to be cleared to provide access. He leased the goats to the site that's part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, and the business has been growing ever since.
