Keshopur wetland likely to be the fourth Ramsar site in Punjab

On 27 April 2019 Times of India reported: Keshopur wetland in Gurdaspur is inching closer be the third Ramsar site (wetlands of international importance) in Punjab. The three-day joint inspection visit of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) experts and officials of Punjab forest department to prepare a report on this matter concluded on Saturday [27 April]. Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of science, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.

There are three Ramsar sites -- Harike, Kanjli, and Ropar -- in the state which are significant habitats for waterfoul, fish, and plethora of other endangered and vulnerable species of flora and fauna. The other two wetlands in the state, Ranjit Sagar and Nangal, are national wetlands.
