On 19 January 2005 DefenseTalk.com reported:
Invincible Defence Technology (IDT), also known as Consciousness-Based Defence or Unified Field-Based Defence, is a scientifically validated technique for preventing enemies from arising. The author of the article on DefenseTalk.com, Major General (Dr) Kulwant Singh noted that this 'recently revived method of preventive defence promises to end terrorism'.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
History shows that dynamic methods used in the past, based on weapons and military power, have never been able to eliminate terrorism. The article went on to say that, 'Terrorism, war, and conflict are human problems. Therefore, they require human solutions.'
Because the underlying cause of terrorism and war is accumulated social stress, the 'human solution' needed would consist of a means to remove collective social stress. This ideal approach to prevention is available in the Vedic Literature of India. Singh quoted the Yoga-Sutra, 2.16: 'Heyam duhkham anagatam' -- 'Avert the danger before it arises.'
Major General (Dr) Singh also quoted Yoga-Sutra, 2.35: 'Tat sannidhau vairatyagah' -- 'In the vicinity of Yogic influence - unifying influence, integrating influence, coherent and harmonious influence - conflicting tendencies do not arise.'
According to the article, the Vedic tradition understood that violence resulted from ignorance of how to prevent the build-up of collective stress. Singh quoted the Ramayana, '. . . ignorance will have no access within eight miles from [the Yogi's hermitage].'
Singh credited Vedic scholar and physicist Maharishi Mahesh Yogi with revival of the practical components of IDT, in the form of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the TM-Sidhi Programme. He noted that extensive scientific research documented the positive benefits of these techniques in reducing stress on the collective and individual level.
The article proposed that having a Prevention Wing of the Military would allow the Invincible Defence Technology to become operational. Singh described the Prevention Wing as being comprised of a small part of the armed forces that creates societal coherence by meditating in large groups morning and evening. Their collective practice would produce positive benefits for both themselves and their adversaries.
Singh explained that past research on similar coherence-creating groups in war zones and conflict prone areas showed significant positive success. Extensive scientific research indicates that when the square root of 1% of the population practises the advanced TM-Sidhi programme in a group, a 'field effect' is created.
Scientists call this field effect the 'Maharishi Effect'. Numerous studies have documented and validated the Maharishi Effect in terms of positive social trends such as reduced conflict and lowered crime rate.
Singh said that coherence-creating effects had also been documented on a global scale in a study published in the Journal of Offender Rehabilitation. 'When large assemblies of practitioners of the TM-Sidhi Programme exceeded the Maharishi Effect threshold for the world (about 7,000 at that time) during the years 1983-1985, international conflict decreased 33%, terrorist casualties decreased 72% and violence was reduced in other nations without intrusion by other governments.'
Singh concluded by emphasizing again that the problem of terrorism cannot be solved by standard military means alone. He said that an additional silent approach was also needed, 'which will make fertile ground for sowing the seeds of peace'. He urged every nation to create a Prevention Wing of the Military immediately to achieve true invincibility and permanent peace.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
