Meditation group may spread word of Iowa while on road

Wynne was referring to the recent spate of media coverage that the two organizations have garnered. The Global Country of World Peace, a country without borders, is seeking to build 'Peace Palaces' across the United States, with the aim of achieving world peace.

Reporter Colleen Krantz also referred to a 2004 news release, which announced that Maharishi Vedic City (Iowa's newest city) had been dubbed 'the heart of Vedic America' and quoted Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Indian spiritual leader who introduced Transcendental Meditation to the West, as saying that the Iowa town would create a foundation of enlightenment for the world.

'Until yesterday, I saw America and its allies as the most destructive power in the world,' Maharishi said. 'Now, however, I hear the voice of Vedic America as the voice of unity in a world of diversity—a voice that speaks of invincibility for every individual and every nation.'

The article went on to say that Wynne reported that the Global Country of World Peace recently purchased 1,500 acres near Maharishi Vedic City and hopes to have the land annexed into the town. There are also plans to establish a university, set to open this fall with 500 students.
