You'd like to build a house. What do you think of first? Probably the size and style of the home, the number of bedrooms, possibly even the colors you'll use inside and out. But have you considered the direction the entrance will face, the proportions of the house and its rooms? Where should the dining room be for best digestion, the bedroom for most refreshing sleep?

These are a few of the important questions to ask right from the start according to Maharishi Vedic Architecture, the world's most ancient system of planning homes, communities and cities in accord with Natural Law. Maharishi Vedic Architecture design—based on the same structural intelligence that Nature uses to create everything in the universe—crafts homes and offices that connect individual life with cosmic life.

One basic tenet is that the building's entrance should face due east or due north—any other direction allows negative influences to affect the owner and tenants. This means that 75 percent of all homes and buildings in the world are in violation of Natural Law due to their orientation alone.

Health, Happiness and Good Fortune

Doug Greenfield has developed or consulted on more than 200 Maharishi Vedic Architecture building projects. 'Now for the first time in North America we have a building technology that can transform the way people think and feel,' says Greenfield, 'creating homes and offices that by their mere design support good health, clear thinking, happiness, harmony, and good fortune for a family or business.'

What do people say who actually live and work in these buildings?

'We placed each room according to the recommendations and the result is amazing,' says Michael Dimick of his new home. 'There is a sense of rightness wherever you are in the house. The sun seems to shine in every corner. Regardless of my mood, whenever I walk into my home, I feel energetic and confident.'

Dee Johnson remarks, 'Moving into this house has had a tremendous effect on our children's inner stability, on their level of happiness and success they have at school. They just feel so completely nourished.'

'We have enjoyed greater comfort and security, greater harmony, and greater financial success,' adds Bruce Hauptman. 'We love to come home to our ''Vedic'' house. There's nothing else like it.'

Businessman Doug Neish says 'Maharishi Vedic Architecture makes for a first class working environment. I recommend it to any company that wants more productivity, profits, improvement in the health and harmony of their staff. It will bring an overall increase in the good fortune of the business.'

Hazards of Modern Architecture

Most people today are aware of Sick Building Syndrome, homes and offices constructed with toxic materials and without adequate sunlight and ventilation. But what they don't know is that many other problems can arise from wrong orientation of the buildings they live and work in, or from fundamental violations of Natural Law inherent in the building's design.

According to the tradition of Maharishi Vedic Architecture, buildings not designed in accord with Natural Law can create a wide range of problems, including sickness, financial loss, strained relationships, blocks to creativity and success, and anti-social behavior.

So before you buy your land, and before you build, remember that Nature has designs for your home and office.
