On 2 April 2007 India Defence reported: A Prevention Wing of the Military, applying Maharishi's Invincible Defence Technology, could be a valuable asset to India's homeland security, by increasing coherence in the capital region, making New Delhi less vulnerable to terrorist attacks; by neutralizing the enmity of India's neighbors; and by removing poverty and improving the health of the economy and the people. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of world peace.

The India Defence article points out that up until now, the Indian government's response to military and terrorist threats within and without its borders has been along conventional lines; that is, it has increased the strength of security forces in areas of military activity. This strategy, however, often backfires and even intensifies tensions further.

The best military strategy, according to the article, is to settle differences peacefully by turning any adversary into a friend. The technology for this strategy is an ancient yet scientifically validated, human-resource-based Vedic system, known in military circles today as Invincible Defence Technology (IDT).

IDT has been scientifically proven to prevent terrorism, reduce violence, and end conflict. It has the potential, moreover, to improve the quality of life of the people and solve other pressing social problems, thereby removing some of the root causes of violence and unrest, and to create total peace and prosperity.

The India Defence article explains that the principal components of IDT are the Transcendental Meditation Technique and its advanced techniques, the TM-Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying. The practice of these techniques in large groups creates coherence and reduces collective stress, which is responsible for social problems such as war, terrorism, and crime.

India could easily prevent the buildup of such collective social stress by establishing a Prevention Wing of the Military, whose primary purpose would be to practise these techniques twice a day. In doing so, says the India Defence article, IDT could soon become the biggest 'Revolution in Military Affairs' (RMA) in centuries, and achieve the ideal security strategy described in the ancient Vedic texts of India: Heyam duhkham anagatam—'Avert the danger before it arises.'

The article cites a number of research studies published in respected, peer-reviewed journals worldwide showing the effectiveness of this programme, whose calming effect has been named the 'Maharishi Effect' in honor of the founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who first predicted it.

The article observes, 'To more effectively protect India, the military should acknowledge its great Vedic heritage and implement this scientifically validated approach.'
