Construction begins on Canada's first Peace Colony

The beautiful west coast island of Salt Spring will be home to Canada's first Peace Colony, from where Yogic Flyers will radiate coherence for the whole country. Salt Spring Island, the largest of the Gulf Islands, is in the Georgia Strait off the eastern shores of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It is a jewel of Canada's west coast, and is renowned for its temperate climate and spectacular views.

The Peace Colony will be constructed on seventy acres of lush forest of Douglas fir, cedar, and maple trees, with a woodland stream bordering the property on the east. The infrastructure is nearly complete, with roads and building sites laid out for construction of twelve houses, all to be built according to the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda—the science of building in accord with Natural Law.

This beautiful island, renowned for its high quality of life, has attracted a very creative, dynamic, and progressive population, including numerous artists, writers, and artisans. Many people practising Transcendental Meditation already live on Salt Spring Island, and three Vastu homes have been built near the Peace Colony land in recent years, with two more nearing completion. The local community have welcomed the Peace Colony, which is being spearheaded by Mr Don Arney, an eminent inventor and businessman, who has long been a leading supporter of Maharishi's peace-creating initiatives in Canada and around the world.
