Gino Romanese, senior vice-president of Royal LePage, says the first quarter results were surprising because that time of year is traditionally slower in the real estate market. 'We had a very strong end to 2006. Some of that carried over to 2007. The year ended on a high note and the momentum carried forward.' Romanese says the year is off to a better-than-expected start and that bodes well for the rest of 2007. 'It looks like another great year shaping up,' he says.

To that end, Peladeau's printing and media giant announced that books published by Group Livre Quebecor Media will be printed on recycled paper made of 100% post-consumer fibre. 'As the largest publisher and distributor of French-language books in Quebec and Canada, and one of the largest book printers in the world, we have a duty to do our part and do the right thing for the environment.' He also announced that Quebecor-owned media outlets will expand editorial content related to environment issues—in newspapers, magazines, online, and on TV.

CBC News - Sask. gets $44M from Ottawa for CO2-cutting projects (5 April 2007) Saskatchewan projects aimed at cutting pollution and putting less carbon dioxide in the air will be getting $44 million, the federal and provincial environment ministers announced. The federal money is part of a $1.5 billion trust fund set up to help provinces and territories reduce greenhouse gas emissions, smog, and pollution. Saskatchewan Environment Minister John Nilson said the federal money will help support the province's long-term goal of getting one-third of all its energy from renewable sources and that the government will reveal more about its green strategy over the next few weeks.

CanWest News Service - Canada one of the fortunate countries, according to damning climate change report (6 April 2007) 'While there are big changes coming in Canada, we are very well equipped to deal with them,' said Ian Burton, scientist emeritus with Environment Canada and one of the lead authors of a just-released United Nations report on the world's changing climate. The report is the second of four this year by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations network of close to 2,000 scientists. Burton is one of many looking for 'enlightened' leadership and action from Ottawa.
