Canadian Press - Top court won't halt BC tobacco suit (5 April 2007) The Supreme Court of Canada has rejected an appeal from seven foreign tobacco companies to stop a lawsuit launched by the British Columbia government to recover billions of dollars in health care costs from them. The ruling means the BC government can now try to proceed with its lawsuit.
