Major General Kulwant Singh reports on creating peace on Jammu/Kashmir border
Global Good News Translate This Article
4 June 2007
This week Major General Kulwant Singh, Director General of Maharishi's Invincible Defence Programme, reported:
'Our experiment of having practitioners of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation along the Indo-Pak border has been highly successful and will, one day, pay off in keeping the conflict prone areas calm and peaceful. In this regard I shall only talk of Himachal Pradesh, adjoining Jammu and Kashmir border. We have established two Centres of Transcendental Meditation—one at Dharamshala and the other at Chamba. Both are near the border at a height of approximately 6,000 feet, in the lower Himalayas.
'We have a team of dedicated teachers of Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi Programme who are teaching locals, and by now have taught over 2,000 people. Both these towns are full of ancient temples, especially Chamba, which is also known as 'gate-way to holy Kailash Mountain', which is clearly visible from certain heights. The shortest route, on foot, to Kailash Mountain is via Chamba. The people have deep integrity and take on to Vedic teachings easily.
'We have three Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools at Dharamshala. All three schools are doing extremely well. The combined strength is over 1,500 practitioners of Transcendental Meditation. All students are practioners of Transcendental Meditation and many elder students are practising the TM-Sidhi Programme. This is our effort towards achieving invincibility in the border areas.'
