On a recent Global Family Chat, broadcast daily on the Maharishi Channel, Dr Jonathan Lipman reported on progress in the major project of reconstructing the entire campus of Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA according to principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.

Dr Lipman—the architect responsible for designing and executing many new buildings for MUM and nearby
Maharishi Vedic City in accord with Vedic Architecture—said that the reconstruction began eight years ago, with the goal of ensuring only influences of coherence and support for students, staff, and faculty.

Completing the Dreier Building, a main administrative center for the university, was the first step. This year, Dr Lipman says, 'There has been an unprecedented rate of tearing down buildings and rebuilding on 12 campus sites':

1. The 50,000 square foot (4645 square metre) Argiro Student Center, slated for completion in October, will include two grand dining halls 'completely flooded with natural light, with glorious views of the MUM campus', a student union, and a 300-seat auditorium.

2. Three Peace Palaces are nearly finished—one for ladies and one for gentlemen on campus; and one in Maharishi Vedic City.

3. The roof of the Men's Golden Dome of Pure Knowledge, which was built for the group practice of Yogic Flying, is being replaced.

4. A large building that was constructed in 1983 for the Taste of Utopia Assembly (during which over 7,000 Yogic Flyers gathered at MUM to create peace and coherence in world consciousness through their group practice) has been re-oriented according to Vedic Architecture. According to Dr Lipman, this is noteworthy as it was the last large building on the campus that did not fulfil the requirement of being oriented to the cardinal directions. The building has now been rotated to face the cardinal directions and rebuilt, providing another 17,000 square feet (1579 square metres) for the practice of Maharishi's Technologies of Consciousness.

5. A 26-acre (10.5 hectare) parcel of land has been acquired by MUM so that all building and agricultural work will be in accord with Maharishi Sthapatya-Veda.

6. Between the Men's and Ladies' Golden Domes is the beautiful new Maharishi Tower of Invincibility, which was inaugurated during the global celebrations of Guru Purnima on 29 July. The Tower commemorates the Invincible Assembly that is bringing huge waves of coherence and peace for the whole country. It is clad in white marble with plaques honouring those who made the assembly possible.

7. The groundbreaking is being planned for a new 6,000 square foot (557 square metre) classroom building and laboratory to house the Maharishi Sustainable Living Programs. It will be 'entirely or nearly ''off the grid'', and made of nontoxic materials,' Dr Lipman said.

8. They are building as much housing as possible for Invincible Assembly participants and others who want to live in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda houses. A triplex of three separate apartments is now under construction.

9. Dr Lipman described a four or five-unit apartment building planned for the area west of the Peace Palaces, as 'a kind of wonderful hotel for guests, with a lovely arcade across the east side'.

10. North Campus Village, where 20-25 private Maharishi Sthapatya Veda homes have been built, plans to continue expanding, to create an even larger neighborhood.

11. A complex of small houses at Utopia Park has been built by the company of Doug Greenfield, which is now constructing five more small homes in the former preschool area of the campus.

12. Finally, university Trustee Dr Christopher Hartnett is building six houses on a site just off-campus.
