Delegation from Hamsa (Hungary) gains knowledge of Maharishi Vedic Education and Vedic Organic Agriculture - Part III

Recently speaking on Maharishi's Global Family Chat, broadcast around the world on satellite and Channel 3 of the Maharishi Channel, Raja John Konhaus welcomed a delegation from Hamsa (Hungary), who have been visiting the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland for several days.

Following his review of the presentations made by leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in Part II of this article, Raja Konhaus invited the delegates themselves to offer their impressions of their time in MERU.

Istvan Dienes, Co-National Director of the Global Country of World Peace in Hungary and leader of the delegation, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Maharishi's house, and to be able to plan the future of Hungary in such an auspicious location. 'This is a place of Brahm [Totality],' he said, 'where all of Nature's organizing power is present.' He said that, over the last few days, the delegation had received Brahma Vidya, 'knowledge of Brahm'. 'With this knowledge we will be able to reconstruct all of Hungary—to fulfil the destiny of our country through action,' he concluded.

Next, Professor Csaba Varga, a distinguished faculty member of the sociology department at the University of Pannonia, and National Director of Education of the Global Country of World Peace, gave his impressions, focusing on the urgent need for Vedic Education in schools and universities. 'I would like to point out that in the last 50 years there have been many problems with higher education,' he remarked.

He identified these problems as pertaining to the kind of knowledge offered in universities, the way in which universities are structured, and the degree to which students' learning potentials are addressed. During their visit, the delegates learned the solution to these problems—Consciousness-Based Education—and he expressed enthusiasm at the proven results of practising Transcendental Meditation in classrooms.

'We must restructure our teaching methods without delay,' he urged. 'We already have the inspiration to change education in Hungary, but now we have the substance with which to change it.' He concluded by reporting his plans to continue research on how to implement principles of collective consciousness into higher education.

Next to speak was Istvan Juhasz, Mayor of Vekerd, a rural town in eastern Hungary, who expressed the great bliss he felt during his visit. 'This bliss, which has filled my heart and my entire being, will give me the power to bring immediate change to my country.' As Mayor, Istvan hopes to immediately implement Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture in his village, as well as organize a conference on Vedic Education with mayors of neighbouring towns.

Akos Mester, Director of Administration for the Global Country of World Peace in Hungary, agreed that education in Hungary still lacks the means of developing students into successful, happy individuals. 'With Consciousness-Based Education', he said, 'we can create successful students and, therefore, a prosperous society.' He went on to note that the proper education should also be supplied to the teachers and principals of schools, so that they may fully achieve their professional goals.

Akos is currently working to establish a Maharishi University in Hungary, with programmes in business administration, computer science, and sustainable living, among others. He brought his reflections to a close by giving thanks to the Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, Dr Bevan Morris, for supporting all efforts to establish this university in Hungary in cooperation with Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.

In his concluding remarks, Raja Konhaus thanked the delegation for sharing their profound impressions. 'I feel happy and moved that they came here with the sincere desire to understand more completely this system of education and agriculture, and we will support them in every way possible to establish these programmes in their country,' he said.
