On a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast live daily via satellite and over the Internet on Channel 3 of the Maharishi Channel, Dr Eike Hartmann, Minister of Architecture of the Global Country of World Peace, gave an inspiring and very complete, detailed presentation of the master plan for the World Capital of Global Raam Raj in the Brahma-Sthan (geographical centre) of India.

After describing the overall layout and many details of the master plan for construction of the Vedic Pandits' residences, Mandaps, Jyotir Linga temples, and other facilities at the Brahma-Sthan, Dr Hartmann commented:

'So this is the Pandit world. They don't go across this huge land which is stretching 6 km from east to west and 2.5-3 km from north to south, and walk in the heat. They have their cluster (of buildings); they live there, they have their residences here, then go just a few hundred feet to the front, to do their Yagyas (Vedic performances), and to their dining hall. And they practise their Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, where they live. So they live in this world and that's all they need to know,' Dr Hartmann said. 'Unless they belong to that group of 5,000 Pandits who go to the [central area of the] Brahma-Sthan to perform the Veda Path—but those Pandits live close by, just around the Brahma-Sthan.

'So that is the layout, the general idea, and at this moment we are building where we have the land available. But we did need a master plan, so that as we are building in patches, in the end the whole thing works together.

'This master plan has been laid out with great precision by Dr Roget Audet, Surveyor General of the Global Country of World Peace,' Dr Hartmann said. 'It is so precise that one can see when they are starting the next cluster, and the next, and so on; and when the roads are coming' in each area, and myriad other details.

Dr Hartmann pointed out an area in 'a grove of mango trees, which has been selected for residences of the Rajas. All these buildings are in progress. Very soon, after the hot season and the rainy season, the Rajas will be able to travel there, and stay in their residences there for about half the year, when it is cool, through the 12 January celebrations.' He also showed photos of residential quarters under construction, for the administration of Dr Girish Varma*: a slightly different layout, with beautiful roof gardens and verandas.

Concluding his presentation, Dr Hartmann said, 'Construction for the 16,000 Pandits ''plus'' is going on, with the great help of the Raja of India (Raja Harris Kaplan). We really appreciate all that he is doing for the whole world.' He spoke of being in meetings with Raja Harris, Dr Varma, and other leaders of Maharishi's programmes in India. 'The most striking thing is that Raja Harris is really taking a parental role very, very seriously—it is completely dear to his heart, and will make a difference for the world and for all of India.'

After Dr Hartmann's presentation, Raja Harris commented, 'We are all very inspired by Dr Hartmann and to see what he's been doing—his parental role, in all these years, nourishing these plans, and making sure they're done,' along with Dr Audet, Dr Varma, and other leaders.

Raja Harris announced that there would soon be another series of presentations: Dr Audet, Dr Hartmann, and others are assembling a detailed presentation 'for all the well-wishers of this project around the world', showing pictures and plans, and analyzing in great detail the four phases of construction, each building, the costs so far and what remains to be done—'so everyone can glory in the vision' of the whole project and what has already been achieved.

Raja Harris also related an anecdote, 'a scene of great beauty' from his recent visit to the Brahma-Sthan:

Late one evening, coming out into the moonlight from a meeting in one of the buildings, 'it was absolutely quiet and still, and everywhere you looked, the buildings were reflected in the moonlight; and off to one side, it looked like special glistening jewels were there.' Upon asking, Raja Harris learned that one of Maharishi's ideas was for the buildings being constructed with stepped roofs to be lit up at each level. Those Raja Harris saw shimmering in the moonlight were the five new buildings for Dr Girish Varma and his administration, which are almost finished. 'But even then they had put the lights on top . . . and you felt, ''I must be in some Loka (region) of Heaven''—because just the brilliance, the silence, the glowing crystal lights glistening on those buildings in that moonlit evening, gave you some sense of the vision of what is actually going to rise here.

'So when Dr Hartmann is showing this plan for the Brahma-Sthan of India, it will be this incredible place,' Raja Harris said. 'And we look forward to going around those 5,000 Pandits in the 1,000 Mandaps, and listening, one after the other, to their recitations—and the whole world family will have the great joy of seeing Maharishi's beautiful plan realized, now in this generation, and for all generations to come.'

* Dr Varma is Director-General of the Maharishi World Capital of Peace at the Brahma-Sthan of India, Chairman of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, and master organizer of Maharishi's programmes and building projects in India.
