Hawaii, USA: New initiatives bringing enlightenment and ideal education to the 'Aloha State'

Dr Jon Lipman, Director of Vedic Architecture for the USA, spoke on a recent Maharishi Global Family Chat about his visit to Hawaii last month for the inauguration of a new Maharishi Invincibility Center for the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

Established by Dr Stuart and Dr Mokihana Zimmerman, Executive Directors for the State of Hawaii for Invincible America, the Center is located in a very dignified neighborhood of Honolulu, with flowering plants and fruit trees, and is properly oriented according to the principles of Vedic Architecture.

During the celebration, which included a traditional Hawaiian blessing, Dr Stuart Zimmerman introduced Jim and Nina Meade, Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, who recently arrived in Hawaii. Dr Zimmerman said, 'Their skills and backgrounds will be most useful in the fields of education, business, and media,' for awakening interest in the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace.

The Meades have launched an initiative to introduce Consciousness-Based Education in Hawaii. Dr Zimmerman said, 'Hawaii, unfortunately, ranks 50th in the 50 states of the USA, in terms of education. We can turn that around.' Referring to the Transcendental Meditation/Quiet Time Program, supported by the David Lynch Foundation, he reported the success of schools implementing Transcendental Meditation for students and teachers, thereby dramatically improving academic performance and lowering stress levels. 'Nina Meade taught for 20 years at the flagship school for the Quiet Time Program in Iowa*. This will be a major part of our initiative to bring invincibility and enlightenment to Hawaii.'
