300 new Transcendental Meditation Teachers, Vedic Experts, offer Maharishi's programmes globally in 2008

Over 300 new Teachers of Transcendental Meditation from 57 countries, as well as Vedic Experts touring throughout Africa, are helping to expand the availability of Maharishi's programmes around the world.

'A focus of the Ministry of Religion and Culture in this last year has been working towards the expansion of Maharishi's [programmes] to bring Total Knowledge to all cultures and traditions around the world,' said Dr Chris Crowell, Global Minister of Religion and Culture for the Global Country of World Peace.

Summarizing the achievements of 2008 in the field of religion and culture, Dr Crowell said that many new initiatives were started—some in countries that hadn't previously had the opportunity to take advantage of Maharishi's knowledge.

New Teachers of Transcendental Meditation
This last year, new Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Technique graduated from countries in Africa and the Middle East including South Africa, Ghana, Togo, United Arab Emirates, and Syria. Many of these Transcendental Meditation Teachers are the first to offer Maharishi's programmes in their country on a continuing basis.

'It is fulfilling to note that in 2007 and 2008 there have been nine Teacher Training Courses with 319 participants representing 57 nations on all continents—except Antarctica,' Dr Crowell said.

Another Teacher Training Course for Africa and the Middle East is now being organized for the coming year.

Vedic Experts tour Africa
Expansion of Maharishi's programmes in developing countries in Africa included a tour by Vedic Experts offering the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme including Yogic Flying, Advanced Techniques, Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology, and other programmes. These programmes were offered in Ivory Coast, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya.

The tour inspired media coverage as well renovation of a Maharishi Invincibility Centre by local practitioners of Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying.

'A second visit by the Vedic Experts is now being planned for Ghana,' Dr Crowell said.
