Maharishi's celebration of Mahashivaratri in 2007
In February 2007, His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, celebrated Mahashivaratri in a global satellite broadcast. Following traditional Vedic recitations with Puja (Vedic ceremony of gratitude), Maharishi expressed his deep satisfaction with the performance of the Vedic Pandits in India, which enlivened the infinite dynamism within the infinite silence of the Unified Field of Natural Law, to bring the support of Nature's supreme organizing power to fulfil all the programmes of the Global Financial Capital of New York.

Speaking from the Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland, Maharishi said that with this Puja, we dedicate ourselves to establishing Capitals of Raam Raj* throughout the world. 'It is a delightful duty to Guru Dev** that as soon as possible we have Capitals of Raam Raj in every country.'

Following the celebration, the Rajas, Ministers, and National Directors of the Global Country engaged in very fruitful planning sessions for implementing the programmes of the Global Financial Capital for every nation. In response to the rapid formulation of a solution to the reconstruction of the world, Maharishi commented: 'This was the momentum of the Puja. . . . We got the fruits (of the Vedic performance) immediately.'

Celebration of Mahashivaratri in 2009
In today's celebration in February 2009, Dr Girish Varma***, National Director of the Global Country of World Peace for India, and Director-General of the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahma-Sthan, conducted the celebration in India, and introduced the 1,500 Maharishi Vedic Pandits who were to perform Ati Rudrabhishek Maha Yagya, a special Vedic performance for the day.

Dr Varma said that the Sankalp (purpose) of the Pandits' performance today was to complete, to fulfil 'the same Sankalp of Maharishi—to create a very powerful effect of coherence, of Sattva, to bring permanent, perpetual world peace and to offer invincibility to every individual and every nation on this earth.'

This was an especially auspicious Mahashivaratri, Dr Varma said, according to experts in Maharishi Jyotish, the Vedic Science of prediction, with particularly favorable situations in the Grahas (planets) which had come after 54 years.

He also honoured the presence of five Purusha Rajas**** and Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, in the Brahma-Sthan of India—saying that their presence at the celebration added even further to the auspiciousness of the day.

Recalling Maharishi's words about the Brahma-Sthan of India, Dr Varma said: 'Maharishi always used to say, ''Brahma-Sthan of the world''.'

* Raam Raj: Maharishi's global administration through Natural Law, Heaven on Earth. The Capitals of Raam Raj will create this state of invincible peace, prosperity, health, happiness, and freedom from suffering and fear—'all good to everyone and non-good to no one'—for every individual and every nation.

** Maharishi's Master, Shri Guru Dev, His Divinity Brahmanand Saraswati, Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, Himalayas.

*** Dr Girish Varma is also Chairman of the 160 Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools Group, and President of the Maharishi Institutes of Management and Information Technology, in India.

**** A number of Rajas are also members of the Maharishi Purusha Programme. Maharishi has explained that Purusha means the Self, the quality of infinite silence of the Unified Field of Natural Law. Maharishi designed the Purusha Programme for men who wish to dedicate themselves fulltime to the most rapid pace of evolution and creating world peace, through extended group practice of the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, and through their administration through silence, fulfilling the goals of the Global Country of World Peace in 192 countries of the world.
