A new course on the Bhagavad-Gita, offered by the Global Mother Divine Organization* in the United States, will feature in-depth study of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's translation and commentary** of chapters 1-6, as well as the newly released chapter 7.

The year-long course of study, which begins 3 October, will explore Maharishi's unique contributions to the complete understanding and practical application of this timeless wisdom, spanning the entire range of life—from individual life to cosmic life, from the practicalities of everyday life to the sublime realities of life lived in higher states of consciousness.

The course will be offered to lady Teachers and practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Programme across the nation.

According to Dr Judy Booth, eminent scholar of the Bhagavad-Gita, who will conduct the national course weekly by teleconference, it will give special attention to identifying and appreciating the qualities of consciousness, the qualities of the Unified Field of Natural Law, as found in the text, that are particularly fundamental to the life of women. These qualities are also known as the qualities of Mother Divine,* the most fundamental of which are: pure knowledge, infinite organizing power, and bliss.

In every culture throughout the world, Dr Booth explained, the feminine expression of the creative, nourishing power of nature has been known by different names and different forms—all of them representing qualities of consciousness inherent within every human being.

A very beautiful and practical aspect of the study of the Bhagavad-Gita, to be considered in the course, is that all of these most cherished, most desired and valuable qualities are found in the 700 verses of the Bhagavad-Gita, and that studying the Gita helps to develop them in one's consciousness. Through identifying and appreciating them, as brought to light in the verses and commentaries of the text, Dr Booth said, participants will be enlivening them in their own consciousness, in their life as a whole, and in the world around them.

Global Good News will feature more about the Bhagavad-Gita, to be studied in this special new course for ladies, in the coming days.

* 'Mother Divine' refers to the nourishing, evolutionary power of Natural Law lively within all of creation and within the silent consciousness of everyone. The Global Mother Divine Organization, established in December 2007, is the ladies' wing of the Global Country of World Peace.
