Father Gabriel Mejia to present benefits of Transcendental Meditation Programme for troubled youth: Argentina conference

Father Gabriel Mejia, a Catholic priest who directs 47 shelters for homeless children and youth offenders in Colombia, will be hosting a conference in early October 2009 in Rosario, Argentina. Father Mejia has inspired educators and leaders throughout Latin America with the results of his programmes to improve the lives of troubled youth.

The conference will focus on the benefits of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programmes, including Yogic Flying, for rehabilitation of youth offenders and prevention of crime, as evidenced through successful programmes offered at the shelters of Father Mejia.

Father Mejia spoke at the press conference for the historic 'Change Begins Within' concert in April this year in New York, a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation featuring Paul McCartney; he also received an honorary doctorate in World Peace from Maharishi University of Management in July.

Father Mejia feels it is his duty to expand and consolidate his programmes for juvenile offenders within as many Latin American countries as possible. He hopes to create good will within religious communities of the continent, demonstrating to them the power of Transcendental Meditation as a tool for rehabilitation and for creating invincibility in each nation and for the whole continent.
