Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace, established the administrative capital of his worldwide organization in the centre of India, called the Brahmasthan. According to the ancient Vedic science of architecture, Sthapatya Veda, the location and orientation of a building or capital is of great importance to the success of the activities undertaken there.

More than 1,000
Maharishi Vedic Pandits, peace-creating experts who utilize the ancient Vedic technologies of consciousness, reside at the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahmasthan.

Raja John Konhaus, Raja (Administrator) of Japan and other countries for the Global Country of World Peace, recently spoke about his experience at the new Raja campus at the Global Capital, which opened at the end of December. 'Being there [for the past two months] was like having a daily lesson in everything Maharishi has taught over the years about Vedic knowledge, the meaning of meditation, and the qualities of meditation.' He said it was the 'most amazing spiritual experience' of his life.

He also spoke on the significance of the Global Capital as the foundation for creating world peace. 'If we think about the conflicts around the world, we might wonder why things are the way they are. Maharishi reflected on that a lot, and said it's all dependent on the level of coherence in society. The Vedic term is Sattva, purity. Everything that happens in our lives is determined by the level of coherence in us individually and in society. Incoherence is still stronger than coherence in our society, and that's why Maharishi emphasized the need for creating coherence groups of Yogic Flyers.'

'In India we have the best opportunity for establishing a very strong coherence-creating group for the whole world,' said Raja Konhaus. 'This is because of the location, the Brahmasthan, and the tremendous organizing power that radiates from that point allows anything that happens there to be magnified. Of all the locations in the world, being at the heart of the land of the Veda is a very significant starting point.'

He described the remote nature of the campus as being very silent and pure. 'The eternal Vedic tradition reverberates in the land itself.'

Part of the Brahmasthan campus, which is nearly 2,000 acres (809 hectares), has been designated for international guests who practise Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme. Plans are underway to develop accommodations for those who would like to stay for short or long periods of time at the Global Capital of World Peace. Initially 100 rooms will be renovated to Western standards of comfort; each country will be involved in preparing suites for their people. The plan should be ready by January 2011, and National Directors of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in each country will be coordinating a schedule of courses for their citizens to enjoy.
