On 25 April 2010 Organiser - India reported: The scientifically verified, peaceful means of defence through Invincible Defence Technology--including utilization of the Transcendental Meditation Programme--is garnering global interest from distinguished publications and institutions related to the armed forces. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of world peace.

The Organiser—India's largest circulated Hindi language weekly—reports that a 'leading scientific journal in Pakistan, The Journal of Management & Social Science, recently published a paper titled ''A New Role for the Military: Preventing Enemies from Arising—Reviving an Ancient Approach to Peace,'' indicating that the military application of the 'Transcendental Meditation' technique has merit.'

'The paper,' the Organiser continues, 'discusses how militaries worldwide have used the Transcendental Meditation® and TM-Sidhi® programme, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, as a non-religious and scientifically verified way to prevent war and terrorism. When used in a military context, these meditation practices are known as Invincible Defence Technology (IDT).

More than 50 scientific research studies have demonstrated that when a sufficient number of experts practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme and advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme together as a group, positive trends in society increase, and negative trends such as 'violence, crime, car accidents, and suicides' decrease, the article reports.

The paper cites an impressive array of peer-reviewed research including the 'Yale University-edited, Journal of Conflict Resolution showing that an intervention by a civilian group in Israel resulted in a 76 per cent reduction in war deaths in neighbouring Lebanon', the article states.

The author of the paper, David R. Leffler,* has been invited to speak about IDT at such institutions as the US Institute of Defense and Business, the Russian Air Force Academy, The Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Korea Institute of Defense Analyses. He was also a speaker at the Washington DC, USA conference, '5th Annual Countering IEDs—Assessing the IED Threat and its Evolution on the Battlefield and in the Homeland'. In 2008 Dr Leffler presented the paper at the 'International Sociological Association Research Committee - Seoul National University & Korea Military Academy International Conference on Armed Forces & Conflict Resolution in a Globalized World'.

Global Good News comment:

* Dr Leffler is Executive Director of the Center for Advanced Military Science at the Institute of Science, Technology, and Public Policy at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
