22 July 2010
The first Maharishi Gandharva Veda Festival for World Peace concerts will be held during the global celebrations of Guru Purnima* on 24 and 25 July in MERU, Holland—home of the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace.
Many top international artists are participating in these concerts, offering traditional Vedic music, including Santoor, Veena, Sitar, Sarod, Subahar, flute, vocal, Dhrupad, and Kathak dance. To crown the evening concerts, Maharishi Vedic Pandits will perform special Vedic recitations for world peace, with all the artists together accompanying in a grand symphony performance.
The concerts will be held in the beautiful setting of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Peace Palace. The artists will perform on a floating platform in a pond with coloured fountains, lighted Vedic arches, and ornaments, surrounded by gardens and forest.
The programme each evening will start with delicious Indian and Italian meals.
Tickets are still available to attend the 25 July concert in MERU, as well as to view both concerts (24 and 25 July) live online. (They will also be archived for later viewing.)
For tickets and further information, please see Concert.
* Guru Purnima is the day in the Vedic Calendar—traditionally celebrated on the full moon in July—that is dedicated to honouring the Masters of the eternal Vedic Tradition of knowledge, who throughout time have upheld the supreme wisdom of life. In this generation this wisdom has been brought to the world through the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi's Vedic Science, to bring enlightenment to every individual and invincibility to every nation.
