The role and responsibility of the spiritual teacher: Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam

Continuing his address to the global Guru Purnima celebration on 25 July, Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, spoke about the expression of the divine in every phase of our lives.

Maharaja explained that the Guru or spiritual teacher is seen as a divine expression of Natural Law, 'divine wholeness. The divine expresses itself to the individual in every phase of his or her undertaking and evolution,' Maharaja said.

'The mother is the first divine expression for the child, all knowing, all loving, all caring. So the ladies of our world are to every aspect of reality—whether they are mothers having children themselves, or ladies caring for the world, for whatever aspect they care—they are a divine expression.

'Then we have fathers, relatives, friends,' Maharaja continued. 'We have knowledge, teachers; we have power, energy, leadership, rulership: all are aspects of the divine. . . . The divine is expressed everywhere and in every different aspect [of life]—even in an enemy there is an expression of some aspect of Natural Law that reflects towards us, . . . a reaction from our action; and therefore it's only an expression of Natural Law that is for us to learn from, in whatever way we can,' Maharaja said.

He went on to describe the role and responsibility of the spiritual teacher: 'His responsibility, his teaching, his expression of the divine, is to just directly take us to the divine; directly take us to the fullness of the divine,' Maharaja said. 'All other aspects of expressions of divinity in our life are partial, for different situations and circumstances, and they help us to grow and adjust; but what Maharishi brings, what the Guru brings, is Totality of the absolute Being, Total Knowledge, total Being, directly to one's awareness.'

Maharaja expressed appreciation for the greatness of Maharishi's gift to the world in establishing the leadership of the Global Country of World Peace—through the Rajas, Raj Rajeshwaris, Ministers, and other leaders—from the level of total Natural Law, the Constitution of the Universe in their own consciousness. Maharaja compared this to the character of leadership in any society, group, or nation: the leaders—CEOs, presidents, prime ministers, and monarchs—act in accord with the laws of their country, leading the people and making decisions 'based on manmade laws. They are the reflection of the collective consciousness of a society, a company, a nation, or groups of nations.'
