India: Global Mother Divine Organization reports achievements during Third International Congress - Part 2

On 23 July—the final day of the Global Mother Divine Organization's* Third International Congress in MERU, Holland—the group enjoyed an inspiring series of presentations from delegates representing countries around the world, on their achievements of the last six months. One of the first presentations was a very full report from India that included hundreds and thousands of mothers and girls learning the Transcendental Meditation Technique, and the success of implementing Consciousness-Based Education.

Kolkata

The Global Mother Divine Organization (GMDO) in Kolkata has increased to 37 members. Seven are teachers at the Maharishi Vidya Mandir school. There are three schools in Kolkata; two are Primary Schools and Bengali Mother Tongue-speaking Medium Schools, with 352 students and 89 students respectively. The third is an English Medium School from pre-primary to high school.

Teachers and students practise Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme regularly in a group in the school.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir was established in 1997, has a combined strength of 36 teachers at the pre-primary, primary, and secondary level, and an enrolment of 1206 students. This year the new admissions on these three levels are 168, 36, and 23 respectively.

As in every year, the school participated in the annual global 12 January celebrations of the Global Country of World Peace; the evening celebration featured a medley of brilliant performances including recitation, dance, drama, and musical recitals. An audience of more than 2000 parents, guardians, and guests was present to witness the occasion, besides teachers and students.

On 9-10 February, the Exhibition 'Explore 2010' was arranged for the first time in the history of MVM. The students displayed a variety of models, charts, and craftwork related to subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, and Environmental Science.

In March, 21 students from MVM took the ISCE (Indian School Certificate Examinations) 2010; for the first time MVM students were allowed to take the examination in their own school hall. All students passed, 19 in the First Division. Six teachers had the opportunity to serve as ISCE 2010 Examiners. An inspiring teleconference with Raj Rajeshwaris*, MVM Secretary Mrs Renu Mojumder, and Administrator Mrs Sumana Chakraborty was held on 12 May 2010 for the teachers of the school. On 15 May, the day before Akshaya Tritiya (the auspicious Day of Lasting Achievements in the Vedic calendar), the MVM Director arranged an interactive session with the parents and guardians of the students to explain the benefits of Transcendental Meditation, and encouraged them to learn the technique. She also explained about the Global Mother Divine Organization. Many parents signed up to learn.

Also throughout India, special celebrations on Vedic Calendar days were performed in many centres in a festive way.
