The Maharishi Samadhi Smarak under construction in India will be beautifully detailed—exterior and interior—featuring carved marble and sandstone pillars, marble floors, carved walls, and landscaped gardens and fountains.

Where the previous year construction had yet to begin, now a dramatic assembly of very large sandstone pillars stand at their full height of seven and a half metres (24 feet). At its base, each pillar is more than one square metre (10.8 square feet).

An ornate projection is elaborately carved and installed as a separate element on the pillars, which already mark the layout of the building on the ground.

They provide a feeling of dignity, grandeur, and permanency, said Dr Eike Hartmann,* Minister of Global Reconstruction for the Global Country of World Peace, who reported on this initiative along with Raja Rafael David, a Purusha** Raja of universal domain.

The whole building will be carved inside and out, Dr Hartmann said.

Elements of the building will be expertly joined without iron reinforcement, using the ancient master builder technique of interlocking stone block.

In contrast to the sandstone exterior, inside the floor and pillars of the central hall will be of rare white marble. Each block is inspected for purity and perfection, and many blocks have to be rejected during carving when enclosures or marks appear, Dr Hartmann commented.

One of the building's most beautiful features will be 1008 golden Kalashes*** set on a stepped roof. This has never been achieved in India on any structure, Dr Hartmann said.

Their brilliance will flood the entire area for many miles around, attracting millions of visitors to cross the river 'for a taste of bliss and silence', he added.

The site will also feature landscaped gardens and fountains. Guests will enter through an eastern gate and then walk across a 200-metre causeway with gardens on both sides. Ultimately the causeway platform will be extended to accommodate the 12 exhibition Mandaps (halls), displaying the life-transforming knowledge of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
